Social Wise Virtual Reality Clinical Trial
What is Social Wise VR?

SocialWise VR is a 5-week program that utilizes virtual reality to help autistic adults interact with other people with greater ease.
Under the guidance of a trained facilitator, the participant will play through social scenarios on a VR headset. These scenarios give autistic adults practice in having conversations in the controlled setting of a digital environment.
What is the goal of this research study?
This study aims to test the effectiveness and acceptability of a virtual reality program in improving autistic adult’s comfort in social interactions.
Who is eligible?
You may be eligible to participate in this study if you are:
- Aged 18 years or older
- Have a diagnosis of ASD from a psychologist, psychiatrist, neurologist, developmental pediatrician, or other mental health/medical professional
- Do not have a history of intellectual disability
- Can attend weekly sessions for this 5-week program.
What will I be asked to do?
Participation Includes…
- Complete a short series of online questionnaires
- Attend one 2-hour session per week for 5 weeks
- Use a virtual reality headset to play through real world social situations
- Participants will receive monetary compensation once they have completed the study
What are the benefits of participating in this study?
It is possible that participation in this study may improve your comfort and skill in many types of social situations. Participants will also be monetarily compensated.
