Advances in the Biological Basis of Heterogeneity in Autism Across the Lifespan
On May 7th, the ASPE team participated in the Lurie Autism Institute Inaugural Symposium, “Advances in the Biological Basis of Heterogeneity in Autism Across the Lifespan”. Hosted in the HUB for Clinical Collaboration at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the event served as a catalyst for connection, bringing together leading experts in autism research, clinical care, and advocacy.
ASPE was proud to contribute to the conversation through multiple touchpoints:
- Daniel Rader, MD (ASPE Director) presented The Nancy Lurie Marks Prize for Autism Research to Huda Y. Zoghbi, MD
- Erica Korb, PhD (ASPE PI) presented Alekh Paranjapye, PhD (ASPE Postdoc) with the Lurie Autism Institute Catalyst Postdoctoral Fellow Award
- Michael Gandal, MD, PhD (ASPE PI) offered a presentation titled “Autism Genetics through the Lens of Neurodevelopmental Transcriptomics”
- ASPE Co-Director Maja Bucan engaged in panel on “Multi-Omic Approaches for Discovery Science”
- Marc Fuccillo (ASPE PI) presented on the Lurie Next Generation Program in Autism Bioscience and announced the Lurie Autism Institute Fellow Travel Awards
- Maria Fasolino, PhD (ASPE Program Director) and Emily Colón (ASPE Communications and Outreach Specialist) were involved with organizing the Symposium
In addition to these presentations, ASPE trainees contributed several research posters, reflecting the innovative work conducted across ASPE.
Beyond the sessions, ASPE engaged with an incredible network of researchers, clinicians, and innovators in autism research. The ASPE Team returns from the symposium inspired by our peers and looking forward to the future of autism research.
